Exhaust Gas Treatment

Some of exhaust gas from manufacturing equipment or wastewater treatment facilities contains hazardous substances. Under thorough control, such exhaust gas is input to a unit called a “scrubber” so that hazardous substances can be removed and discharged to air.

Boilers

Boilers, which make steam used in air conditioning or manufacturing processes, are fueled by natural gas.
Natural gas is a clean energy source with the lowest CO₂ emissions among all fossil fuels, and produces less environmentally harmful substances (e.g., soot, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxide) contained in smoke generated during combustion. Steam used in air conditioning or manufacturing processes is recovered and reheated to effectively utilize thermal energy and water resources.

Effective Utilization of Water

As a large amount of water is used in our plants, we are actively working on the effective use of water.
We reduce the use amount of fresh water used and discharged water by recovering and reusing less dirty water from manufacturing equipment.

Wastewater Treatment

Wastewater from manufacturing processes is detoxified by wastewater treatment facilities, and discharged to sewers or rivers under thorough control.
Water discharged from plants to sewers or rivers is regulated by the Water Pollution Prevention Act and the Sewerage Act.
We thoroughly control wastewater by measuring water quality regulary depending on our voluntary standard values stricter than national and prefectural wastewater standard values.

Management of Chemical Substances

We manage the amount of chemical substances to be used in product development or manufacturing, and manage the amount of legally regulated chemical substances to be discharged to the environment. Prior to using new chemical substances we haven’t used before, we perform environment-impact risk assessment and address them appropriately.

Wastes

We promote 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) activities to form a recycling- oriented society. To make plants that do not dispose of wastes and do not change materials into wastes, we are reviewing manufacturing processes, reusing packing materials, and separating wastes for recycling as valuable resources.
We also make the most effective use possible of things that unavoidably become waste.

Noise and Vibration Measurement

In our business operations, compressed-air systems are used in equipment, press units, and other equipment that causes noise and vibrations. To preserve a quiet living environment in the surrounding area, we measure the noise and vibration values periodically according to the Noise Regulation Act and the Vibration Regulation Act.

LED Lighting

To reduce the amount of energy we use, LED lighting has been introduced in plants and offices from FY2016. Automatic lighting with human detection sensors is used in corridors and restrooms.
