SHINKO’s Production Engineering

Introduction

To improve production site efficiency, SHINKO advanced and improved mass production technology by introducing production techniques such as TPS (Toyota Production System). At present, SHINKO is pursuing “productivity improvements through digitization and automation” and “production technical capability and business technical capability improvements through scientific management” for further advancement.

Productivity Improvements by Digitization and Automation

Productivity improvements and labor saving are advanced by digitizing and automating tasks that had been performed by humans.

Business Rationalization in Mold Design Technology

Cultivated design know-how that was accumulated over many years was standardized, automatic design support system was developed, and mold design man-hours were reduced. In addition, using three-dimensional CAD and plastic working simulators, the number of prospect design processes of components was reduced, the number of trials was reduced, and lead time up to mold completion was shortened.

Work Automation by Robots

Dust generation prevention measures were added to clean rooms, and unmanned transfer robots for flexibly satisfying process route changing were introduced to advance labor saving and automation. In addition, articulated robots are used to reduce heavy-goods handling space and human operation load.

Production Engineering Capability and Business Technical Capability Improvement by Scientific Management

Visualization of business works and management using numerical data make problems and improvement targets clear in each operation. Improvement activities are accelerating as SHINKO recognize the effects of these activities at the point of production.

Efficiency Promotion of Equipment Maintenance Work

Change from planned preventive maintenance to predictive/accident-sign-detective maintenance is made to reduce loss due to equipment stoppage and to improve productivity.
At the same time, we are trying business efficiency improvement and cleanliness support activities based on a paperless plan. In addition, production using uninspected equipment is prevented and failures are reduced by linking with MES (Manufacturing Execution System).

Processing Improvement by IoT

A large amount of manufacturing condition data in machining processes is automatically collected from each piece of equipment. Accumulated data visualizes alarm generation and tendency status by using control lines. SHINKO is now addressing various challenges such as earlier detection of errors, and improvement of quality.

Automation of Business Processing by Utilizing RPA

Each department is trying automation of routine and simple work by introducing and educating about RPA (Robotic Process Automation).

Promotion of Commodity Distribution Simulation

Total optimization of people, goods, space, and investment is made and commodity-distribution optimization support is advanced by volume forecasts at new production line and by improvement of existing-facility layout.
